Self Care for chronic stress and pain

Trail to start a journey

Relaxed hands
Explore the terrain
Follow the contours of the bones with soft hands
Lean in and listen to the soft tissue
Walk the pathways of the nerves and blood vessels
Discover the mountains and valleys of the joints
Take your time
There is no hurry
Enjoy the journey

This poem came out of nowhere. I have never written poetry or ever considered writing it. Last Saturday I was working doing a massage listening to Johnny Cash. I was thinking about the song Further on Up the Road.

I have been a massage therapist for a long time and have been studying massage for even longer. Recently I have been giving considerable thought about how to teach others both clients and therapists alike what I know. Over the years I have successfully treated more people than I can count who suffer from chronic stress and chronic pain. Every Massage is a Journey is the very essence of what I know and what I do when I massage. If you suffer from stress and/or pain and don’t have access to a massage therapist, ponder this poem then do your own massage. It will help.
